Car Seat Program

Crawford County Public Health offers Car Seat Checks. A car seat safety check provides an opportunity to ensure that your child's car seat is properly installed, correctly fitted, and in good condition, all of which are essential for protecting your child in the event of a car crash.

Why get a car seat check?

Road injuries are the leading cause of unintentional deaths to children in the United States.  When installed and used correctly child safety seats decrease the risk of fatal injury by 71% among infants, 54% among toddlers and 45% among children ages 4 - 8.  Schedule an appointment with the Crawford County Child Passenger Safety Technician to learn and ensure your child's car seat is installed correctly.

What to expect?

During a car seat safety check, you can expect a technician will carefully inspect your car seat, check for proper installation, assess the right size seat for your child, evaluate the harness/seatbelt, adjust the harness positioning, check for recalls, review the car seat's condition, and provide valuable education, demonstration, and/or guidance.
